What a complete and utter waste of money. Who cares about teaching and research? We have BELLS! So go out there and beg for money, all you PhDs! I'm pretty sure we already have an iconic bell tower here at the University of Illinois. As an Arch Grad, I now get the pleasure of looking out my studio window at this wonderful piece of crap everyday. I'm stoked. Meanwhile, I'm still opeing the windows to the Arch Bldg. in the middle of the winter because the university seems to think that a bell tower is more important than energy efficiency in its current buildings. Bravo Mr. McFarland and the Board of Trustees. You're ignorence never ceases to amaze me. I’d be interested to know how much money was wasted on this project by the McFarlands.
