Top 10 Cities for Design in America

Today BusinessWeek looks at the “Top 10 Cities for Design in America” as compiled by architectural firm RMJM Hillier along with the American Institute of Architects and Zogby International. The list only considers cities with a population of at least 500,000. There’s an article and a slide show. So check out those to see the criteria for the rankings and the explanation for each city on the list. But here’s the list:

10. Washington, D.C.

9. Philadelphia

8. Denver

7. Seattle

6. San Francisco

5. Portland

4. Los Angeles

3. Boston

2. New York

1. Chicago

For me, the only surprise is Denver. But maybe that’s because it’s in the Mountain Time Zone and I pay absolutely no attention to anything that takes place there. I’ll have more on this list later because 3 of the cities that make the list are cities on my short list of places to move upon graduation. What are your thoughts on the list?
