A Day at the Olympic Park

What goes together better than world class athletes and top notch cars? Excatly. That’s why on the second day in Munich we headed to the Olympic Stadium and BMW World. With the Olympics come the latest and greatest in building technology. The Olympic Park and it’s venues in Munich is no exception. The tent-like structures in Munich are truly unique and very interesting especially as an architect to be.

BMW World is a place for BMW to promote everything BMW.  There is a BMW Museum but we skipped it and instead went into what is essentially a glorified show room.  It was pretty cool.  The building designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au is quite spectacular from both the interior and exterior.

And to end the day I hiked the 300+ steps up St. Peter’s to get a better view of Marienplatz and the celebration of Munich’s 851st birthday.  And let me remind you, they are not alcoholics they are professionals.
